Newport International Film Festival 2008

The film WELLNESS will be different things for different people. On the surface it’s about a man trying to make it as a salesman in a product line called “Wellness”. To some it will be clearly comical… to others the saddest of tragedies. What everyone will share departing the cinema is that it is unforgettable. With a trainee salesman that would make the Glengarry Glen Ross crew look like a bunch of amateurs, the film shows so well our capacity for hope shares all too much in common with our capacity for denial. Director Jake Mahaffy (RISD grad) has handled the heartbreaking performance of Jeff Clark with such genuine sensitivity it leaves you reaching for your wallet to possibly get some Wellness for yourself. (Winner SXSW- Grand Jury Best Narrative Feature Award 2008).
